Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 May 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how myIncome UK ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects your information when you use our salary calculator, account tools, saved salaries, household combinations, feedback form, web app features and push notifications at myincome.uk. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
What Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account registration: If you create an account, we collect your email address, optional username and password. Passwords are hashed before storage and are never stored in plain text.
- Account security: We create email verification tokens, password reset tokens, login/session records, remember-me tokens and timestamps needed to keep your account secure and allow you to stay signed in.
- Saved salaries and household combinations: Salary settings and household combinations you choose to save are stored locally in your browser. If you are signed in, saved salaries and household combinations are also synced to your account so they can be used across devices. Saved salaries may include the values you enter for salary, hourly rate, hours, region, tax year, tax code, pension, student loan, bonus, overtime, second job, deductions, benefits, Gift Aid, Marriage Allowance, Child Benefit and related calculator options. Household combinations may include the names of the saved salaries you combine and related combined take-home estimates.
- Feedback: If you send feedback, we collect the message you write and, if you provide them, your name and email address so we can read and reply to your feedback.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: On pages where analytics is enabled and consent has been given where required, we use Google Analytics (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used. This may include pages visited, session duration, device type, general location (country/region), clicks, scrolls, heatmaps and session replay. No salary figures, calculator inputs or personal financial data are intentionally sent to Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity.
- Cookies and local storage: We use a strictly necessary session cookie to keep you logged in. We also use browser local storage for saved salaries, saved household combinations, autosaved calculator state, theme, display preferences, cookie consent, remember-me tokens and your cached username. If you accept optional analytics cookies, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity may set analytics cookies or similar storage. We do not use advertising cookies.
- Offline and sync storage: The web app may cache static files for offline use. If saved salary or household sync fails while you are offline, the latest sync request may be queued temporarily in your browser's IndexedDB and sent when your connection returns.
- Push notification tokens: If you opt in to push notifications, a browser push subscription is stored. This includes the endpoint and cryptographic keys needed to deliver notifications. Push subscriptions may be linked to your account if you are signed in, or stored without an account if you are not signed in.
What we do NOT collect
- If you use the calculator without an account, salary figures, calculator settings and household combinations normally stay in your browser. They only leave your browser if you choose to send them to us, for example by signing in and syncing saved salaries or household combinations, or by typing them into a feedback message.
- If you create an account and save salaries or household combinations to the cloud, your saved salary settings and household combinations are stored on our servers solely to enable sync across devices. This data is used only to provide the service and is never shared with third parties or used for advertising.
- We do not collect bank account details, payroll credentials, National Insurance numbers, employer login details, precise location, camera data, microphone data or contact lists.
- We do not use advertising cookies, advertising pixels or share calculator data with advertisers.
- We do not sell your data to any third party.
How We Use Your Information
- Providing the service: Your email and password are used to authenticate your account and sync saved salaries and household combinations across devices.
- Calculator functionality: Calculator inputs are used to calculate take-home pay, deductions, pension, student loan, bonus impact, second-job scenarios, household comparisons, job comparisons and related estimates. These calculations run in your browser.
- Service communications: We may send you account-related emails (e.g. email verification, password reset). We do not send marketing emails.
- Feedback handling: Feedback messages are sent to us by email and used to respond to you or improve the website.
- Analytics and product improvement: Optional analytics helps us understand how visitors use the calculator, identify confusing screens or technical issues, and improve the service.
- Push notifications: If you opt in, we may send you notifications about tax year updates or new features.
Our legal basis for processing under UK GDPR is: contract performance (account access, saved salary sync, household combination sync and requested service features), legitimate interests (site security, feedback handling and service improvement), and consent (push notifications and optional analytics cookies where consent is required).
Data Storage and Security
- Account data is stored in a secure MySQL database on servers located in the United Kingdom/EEA.
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text.
- All data in transit is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS.
- Locally saved salaries, household combinations and autosaved calculator state are stored in your browser's local storage. They are not transmitted to our servers unless you sign in and sync them, or you choose to include information in a feedback message.
- Cloud-synced saved salaries and household combinations are linked to your account and are deleted when your account is deleted. Individual saved salaries and household combinations can also be deleted from the calculator.
- Offline caches and any temporary background sync queue are stored in your browser and can be removed by clearing site data for myincome.uk.
Retention
- Account and cloud saved salary data: Kept while your account remains active, unless you delete saved salaries, household combinations or your account.
- Verification and reset tokens: Used for account security and expire after a short period.
- Feedback messages: Kept for as long as needed to respond, maintain records and improve the service.
- Local browser data: Remains on your device until you delete it, clear site data or uninstall the web app.
- Analytics data: Retained by Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity according to their own data retention settings and policies.
- Push subscriptions: Kept until you revoke notification permission, clear browser data, unsubscribe, or the subscription becomes invalid.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectify inaccurate data.
- Erase your account and all associated data — use the Delete Account option in your account settings or visit delete-account.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Data portability — request a copy of your data in a structured format.

You can manage some data directly in the website: delete saved salaries and household combinations, sign out, delete your account, clear local browser data, reject optional analytics cookies in the cookie banner or revoke notification permission in your browser settings. To exercise any rights or ask for help, contact us at privacy@myincome.uk.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Third-Party Services
- Google Analytics (GA4): Optional usage analytics on pages where analytics is enabled. See Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out via Google Analytics Opt-out.
- Microsoft Clarity: Optional behavioural analytics, heatmaps and session replay so we can understand how visitors interact with the site and improve the calculator. Microsoft Clarity may use first-party and third-party cookies or similar technologies when analytics consent is granted. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- Google Fonts: The Inter typeface is loaded from Google Fonts. Google may collect IP addresses as part of this request.
- Browser push services: If you enable notifications, your browser vendor's push service is used to deliver them. Delivery may involve services operated by the browser vendor, such as Google, Apple, Microsoft or Mozilla depending on your device and browser.
We do not use Facebook Pixel, advertising networks or affiliate trackers.
